ABOUT US

Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd is a State-owned Company that develops, owns and operates irrigation schemes in Tasmania, in accordance with sound commercial practice, to facilitate the expansion of agricultural production in the State.

Tasmanian Irrigation owns and operates 19 irrigation schemes across the state, along with additional inherited infrastructure. Tasmanian Irrigation’s promise to our irrigator customers is to “provide irrigators reliable and consistent water at the lowest sustainable price while responsibly and sustainably managing our water resources, scheme assets and the environment.”

The Company also oversees development of irrigation schemes, funded through a unique public / private partnership model.

Tasmanian Irrigation now oversees 26,000 individual infrastructure assets with a replacement value of approximately $500 million and has the capacity to deliver more than 151,000 megalitres of irrigation water each year.

All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will provide engineering oversight into scheme construction following Tasmanian Irrigation’s design policy and technical specifications Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering specified engineering tasks in accordance with approved project schedules.
  • Provide technical input and oversight for construction activities ensuring installations meets technical and contract specifications.
  • Revision of all contractor documentation, including construction management plans, ITPs, environmental management plans etc.
  • Proactively collaborate with contract superintendents, project engineers, and managers.
  • Conduct inspections and maintain a detailed defect register.
  • Provide daily updates to Project Managers, including data on personnel, equipment, progress, issues and hazards, weather and more.
  • Provide Engineering support to oversee the field investigation, survey work, geotechnical, pipeline alignment walkthroughs, and landowner engagement.This is a fantastic opportunity to work and live in Tasmania and contribute to the growth of the State’s agribusiness sector.You will have the opportunity to influence the organisation’s future growth, which will make a visible impact across Tasmania. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience in the design and construction of water delivery infrastructure.
  • Experience in managing design and construction contracts or equivalent.
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills.
  • A tertiary degree consistent with membership in Engineers Australia.
  • Familiarity with regulations and performance standards related to the construction of water delivery infrastructure.
  • Project management.
